Iran President Hassan Rouhani to attend Book of the Year event

Iran President Hassan Rouhani has been scheduled to attend the 34th National Award for the Book of the Year closing ceremony in Tehran.

On Tuesday night, selected books will be announced and writers commended during the 35th edition of the National Award for the Book of the Year ceremony at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall.

The event begins at 7:30 pm local time (1600 GMT) to officially declare the books selected by the jurors.

For each field of study, three books will be selected - namely those in the areas of science, technical knowledge, social and human sciences, education, pedagogy and literature.

Last spring, a call was made for submissions to the 34th edition of the major book award event. The deadline to participate in the event was last August.

Eligible books for the award include those published for the first time in the previous fiscal year that ended in March 2016.
